Math and Science Tutoring with Katharine Krueger.

I am a longtime home educator and degreed mechanical engineer who has been teaching and tutoring homeschoolers and other students since 1999. I’ve taught at Planet Homeschool the past two years.

I excel at making math meaningful and helping students feel empowered and enthusiastic. I am famous for helping kids memorize multiplication tables, “get” long division, and become adept at fractions - so that they can move on to excel in algebra.

Basic arithmetic, fractions, decimals, probability, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Pre-calculus and everything in between, I cover it all. For calculus, I may make referrals (until I freshen up with it).

Reading. Writing. Drawing. I can help with that too, and more.

Sliding scale of $30 to $50 an hour in my south Minneapolis home. Additional fee if I travel to you.

I am now in my sixth year of teaching Latin. I have taught Latin to 4th graders through 11th graders, with most of my experience being in the introductory and intermediate levels.

I am very familiar with most of the Latin textbooks in use today and have taught with five different texts. If you have already begun with one text, I can help your student continue with that text. Piano Lessons

Give your children the gift of music! Research has shown music lessons provide growth in intelligence and emotional skills. What better gift could you give your children?

My passion is music. I am an experienced musician on many different instruments. I have been teaching private piano lessons from my home for the last four years. I have a degree in Special Education and have taught in the public schools for 7 years.

As a part of the weekly lessons, I have my students perform at a nursing home to gain confidence in playing in front of others and volunteering for the community a few times a year. The residents always look forward to our recitals! This is a volunteer experience for all of us. I do not charge for these recitals.

I am available for day hours with homeschool students, and night hours at my house. 18.00/half hour at my home, and 20.00/half hour for traveling to your house in daytime hours.

I look forward to teaching your child piano!

Percussion and Drum Lessons

PETER O’GORMAN PERCUSSION STUDIO - White Bear Lake & Forest Lake

I am a professional musician, teacher, composer, and author of two critically acclaimed drumset method books. I’ve been teaching percussion and drumset lessons for over 20 years.

I teach students at all stages of their musical development from beginning to advanced. I work with each student to custom design a program that facilitates their learning style while addressing their musical needs and aspirations. My students learn good practice habits, how to approach challenging material, how to prepare for auditions, recitals and concerts, and how to develop their own creative voice. My overarching goal is for students to discover the joy of playing music while developing a high degree of musicianship.

If students want to become a rock drummer, a Jazz drummer, a praise band drummer, a concert percussionist, or anything in between, I have the experience and knowledge to help them realize their dreams. (I’ve played in numerous bands, ensembles and orchestras)

My students who attend traditional schools regularly become section leaders in their concert band program, garner superior ratings at solo and ensemble contests, earn positions in All-State Concert Band & All-State Jazz Ensemble, and go on to receive Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees in music.

In lessons, I often create individualized audio tutorials that students can practice with at home. These tutorials are designed to help students with lesson material, audition pieces, percussion parts for concert band, interpretations of Jazz band charts, recital pieces, chop builders, grooves, fills, and more.

HALF HOUR LESSONS ARE $22.

If you would like to know more about my teaching, performing, composing, or my articles and method books, I would be happy to send you additional information. If you have any questions, I would enjoy hearing from you.

Acoustic Finger-Style Guitar Lessons

Professional guitarist, Ben Woolman, is currently looking for students interested in learning how to play acoustic finger-style guitar.

- Day time lessons available

- Now accepting students age 10 and up

- Previous students have showcased in the annual MN Guitar Society Youth Guitarathon

- Beginning to advanced levels welcome

- Perfect for the soloist as well as the singer songwriter looking to further develop their vocal accompaniment

- Learn from someone who learned from the masters and have fun while you’re at it!

E-mail: ben@benwoolman.net

Studio Info: http://www.stpaulguitarstudio.com

Official Web Site: http://www.benwoolman.net

A bit about Ben’s teaching method:

Drawing upon his historical knowledge of finger-style guitar, Ben teaches in a survey course format introducing students to a broad cross section of material from traditional, roots oriented, music (ragtime, folk, Hawaiian slack key, etc) to more contemporary music (Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, Pierre Bensusan, Billy McLaughlin, etc.) ultimately striving toward a customized plan that best suits the student’s individual development.

He works with students who are just beginning to pick (introducing alternating bass patterns, chord melodies, alternate tunings, etc.) on up to the advanced level student where he works on composition, arranging, and covering some of the most significant finger-style guitar repertoire available today.

Though some technical exercises are reviewed (scales, right hand arpeggio studies, etc.) to establish solid fundamentals, he believes in technique evolving with the repertoire; always emphasizing general musicianship and playing expressively.

Minnesota Sword Play teaches Olympic Fencing!

A new Home school program that is a safe and low cost sport.

The emphasis is on a fun, active learning environment while students are introduced to the fundamentals of safe swordplay and fencing.

We presently have class openings designed as an introduction to the sport that is appropriately geared towards children and adults with no prior fencing experience. We teach at private schools, Colleges and Community Education facilities all over Minnesota with fencing camps for the summer months.

Our new programs offers coaches, and we provide full equipment for all participants. We teach all three Olympic Weapons, the Foil, the Epee, and the Saber. We teach all levels. We encourage each child ( and adult) who fences to have fun no matter what their ability! Kids starting at age 8 up to high school are encouraged to fence and enjoy the training and games in a atmosphere of fun. Some of our students train for international competition and scholarships and others just train for the work out. Fencing is more than a sport and recreation. Fencing has a language of its own, and fellowship. Fitness, confidence, positive body awareness, concentration and friendships are all by-products of fencing. This positive message comes through when you take part in our fencing class.

Member of the United States Fencing Association, and teaches fencing at the college of Saint Catherine in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Maria served as the President of the U.S.F.A. MN. Division and Vice President.
