Volunteers Needed
for the MHA Phoneline
MHA is proud to serve folks interested in homeschooling, and those just getting started. We are currently in need of several Phoneline volunteers to help us with this mission. It is very rewarding work assisting others who may be feeling overwhelmed or who may be having trouble finding resources. It is also a great way to spread the word about MHA. Volunteers pick up calls from the phoneline once a week and return calls as soon as they can. Sometimes, you simply have to forward a message to the appropriate person such as to the membership coordinator or to the conference booth coordinator. It typically takes very little time, but can be extremely rewarding. We have all had questions come up about homeschooling and know how helpful it is to find someone to assist us. This is a great way to share your knowledge and expertise in a field we are all familiar with.
Please leave a message on the phoneline if you are interested!

CB Productions to present a world premiere stage adaptation of Mark Twain’s, THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER in April.
CB Productions … “the best kept secret in town”, says one 2009 audience member during a question and answer session.
THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER, by Carla Barwineck, is keenly adapted from one of America’s favorite books, written by Mark Twain. It is a play about an irresistible twelve-year-old boy growing up in the 1840’s in the heartland of America. Tom matches wits with his stern Aunt Polly, falls in love with the beautiful and feisty Becky Thatcher, and goes on the adventure of his life with Becky and that irresistible renegade, Huckleberry Finn. Along the way we meet a terrifying villain named Injun Joe, Tom’s bratty half-brother Sid, and many other lively characters in this small Missouri village. This show is filled with “foot-stompin” music from the South and would be perfect for any age. It is important that you, as an audience member, take responsibility to understand the material of Tom Sawyer before you purchase tickets to decide whether this is appropriate material for your family or group.
CB Productions is a literature-based theatre company composed of accomplished home school student actors who have participated in an extensive actor’s training program. This theatre company for young artists has been presenting high quality theatre since 2003.

Southwest Minnesota State University - Home of the SMSU Mustangs!
Our four-year public university is a liberal arts college located in Marshall, Minnesota. At Southwest, we focus on small class sizes and personalized attention with faculty and staff. Currently, we have 2,600 degree-seeking undergraduate students with an 18:1 student to faculty ratio. We believe that Southwest has many opportunities for students that are homeschooled because of our personal attention and genuine concern for their success. We involve parents throughout the whole process, from admission to graduation. Because our average class size is usually twenty-five students or less, the hands-on personalized curriculum that one receives when homeschooled would continue here. Our small class sizes and supportive student services on campus would be a great fit for them to help ease their transition into a college setting.
Would you like to schedule a visit or request information to be sent? Please feel free to visit our website at www.SMSU.edu or contact me via phone/email: Brittany.Krull@SMSU.edu or 1.800.642.0684 ext 6286. I look forward to hearing from you!
